Description
Forms a tall, slender trunk fairly quickly and can grow up to 20 m in height. Fronds are very soft and delicate looking, especially when new, but prone to wind damage. This Cyathea plant is named after the naturalist who accompanied Captain Cook and first described this fern. Two distinct plants exist: one common to the Auckland region and one to the Wellington region, the Wellington variety having a stouter trunk.
