Description
A very popular Asplenium fern both as an indoor and outdoor plant. Long, delicate-looking fronds are easily recognised by the small bulbils on the upper surface, which can be replanted to produce more plants. The fern also produces spore on the underside of the fronds – an unusual double reproductive guarantee. Best suited to damp, shady areas but adapts to a wide range of situations. The naturally occurring bush variety (pikopiko) produces edible young shoots, an increasingly popular NZ culinary delicacy.
